The geomagnetic field was unsettled to minor storm on February 4 under the influence of CME effects. The high latitude magnetometer at Andenes recorded active to major storm levels.
Solar flux density measured at 20h UT on 2.8 GHz was 129.6 - increasing 27.2 over the previous solar rotation. (Centered 1 year average SF at 1 AU - 183 days ago: 84.63). The Potsdam WDC planetary A index was 32 (STAR Ap - based on the mean of three hour interval ap indices: 32.1). Three hour interval K indices: 44344554 (planetary), 44434544 (Boulder), 45444665 (Andenes).
The background x-ray flux is at the class B7 level (GOES 16).
At the time of counting spots (see image time), spots were observed in 10 active regions using 2K resolution (SN: 243) and in 8 active regions using 1K resolution (SN: 149) SDO/HMI images.
Region 12936 [N17W76] decayed significantly in
the trailing spot section. An M class flare is still possible. C1 flares:
C1.4 @ 03:37, C1.1 @ 20:26 (wrongly attributed to AR 12939 by SWPC), C1.8 @
22:12 UT.
Region 12939 [S16E08] decayed slowly and was mostly quiet. C1 flares:
C1.1 @ 20:26 UT
Region 12940 [N16E08] gained spots and area, however, remained
magnetically fairly simple structured. C1 flares: C1.6 @ 11:24 UT
Region 12941 [N23E63] has a weak magnetic delta but displayed only
minor activity during the day. C1 flares: C1.4 @ 02:42 UT

A recurrent trans equatorial coronal hole (CH1058) rotated across the central meridian on February 1-2. A southern hemisphere coronal hole (CH1059) was Earth facing on February 3-4.
Long distance low and medium frequency (below 2 MHz) propagation along paths north of due west over upper middle and high latitudes is poor. Propagation on long distance northeast-southwest paths is poor to fair.
The geomagnetic field is expected to be quiet to active on February 5-8 due to effects from CH1058 and CH1059.

could reach Earth within the next 5 days. When the high speed
stream has arrived the color changes to green.
2) Effects from a CME are likely to be observed at Earth within 96 hours.
