The geomagnetic field was quiet on April 27. Solar wind speed at SOHO ranged between 336 and 363 km/s.
Solar flux at 20h UTC on 2.8 GHz was 118.1 (decreasing 34.3 over the last solar rotation). The 90 day 10.7 flux at 1 AU was 153.9. The Potsdam WDC planetary A index was 3 (STAR Ap - based on the mean of three hour interval ap indices: 3.3). Three hour interval K indices: 11001102 (planetary), 10002211 (Boulder).
The background x-ray flux is at the class B3 level.
At the time of counting spots (see image time), spots were observed in 14 active regions in 2K resolution (SN: 197) and 11 active regions in 1K resolution (SN: 147) SDO images on the visible solar disk.
Region 12042 [N18W79] was quiet and stable.
Region 12044 [S21W51] decayed slowly and quietly.
Region 12045 [S23W27] was quiet and stable.
Region 12047 [S18E42] developed slowly and quietly.
New region 12048 [N19W36] was first observed with spots on April 23, was spotless on April 25, then reemerged with several spots on April 26. Further development was observed on April 27 when SWPC numbered the region. The region has polarity intermixing (and appears to be 2 regions, however, they are currently too close to split)
New region 12049 [S07E74] rotated partly into view on April 26 and was numbered by SWPC the next day.
New region 12050 [N11E73] rotated into view.
Spotted regions not numbered (or interpreted differently) by SWPC:
S3356 [S16E15] was quiet and stable.
S3359 [S27E19] reemerged with penumbra spots.
S3360 [S24W04] was quiet and stable.
S3366 [N08E02] decayed slowly and quietly.
New region S3371 [S12E39] was observed with a penumbra spot.
New region S3372 [S03W18] emerged with a penumbra spot.
New region S3373 [N11E19] was observed with penumbra spots.
April 25-27: No obviously Earth directed CMEs were observed in LASCO and STEREO imagery.
Coronal hole history (since October

A southern hemisphere coronal hole (CH613) was in an Earth facing position on April 24.
Long distance low and medium frequency (below 2 MHz) propagation along paths north of due west over upper middle latitudes is poor. Propagation on long distance northeast-southwest paths is poor.
The geomagnetic field is expected to be quiet on April 28-30 with a chance of unsettled intervals on April 28 if a stream from CH613 arrives.
