The geomagnetic field was quiet on May 12. Solar wind speed at SOHO ranged between 308 and 381 km/sec.
Solar flux at 20h UTC on 2.8 GHz was 76.0 (increasing 0.6 over the previous solar rotation). The average 90 day 10.7 flux at 1 AU was 71.8 (The centered average 90 day SF at 1 AU hit a low of 67.77 on December 9, 2018. The centered 1 year average SF at 1 AU reached a minimum of 69.88 on August 18, 2018. The current 1 year average 1 AU SF is 70.61). The Potsdam WDC planetary A index was 4 (STAR Ap - based on the mean of three hour interval ap indices: 3.9). Three hour interval K indices: 21100112 (planetary), 20211111 (Boulder)
The background x-ray flux is at the class B1 level.
At the time of counting spots (see image time), spots were observed in 2 active regions using 2K resolution (SN: 40) and in 2 active regions using 1K resolution (SN: 30) SDO/HMI images.
Region 12740 [N08W39]
decayed slowly and quietly.
Region 12741 [N05W02] was the origin of a filament eruption that
began at 17:55 UT. At least a partial halo CME was observed in LASCO imagery
later on.
Comment added at 17:25 UT: An area just south of AR 12741 and at the solar equator, erupted starting near 15:01 UT. The eruption left a temporary coronal hole. It is likely that an Earth directed CME was produced, however, a more firm evaluation of this awaits the availability of LASCO imagery. The CME could reach Earth on May 16 or 17.

No obvious coronal holes are currently in or near Earth facing positions.
Long distance low and medium frequency (below 2 MHz) propagation along paths north of due west over upper middle latitudes is poor. Propagation on long distance northeast-southwest paths is poor.
The geomagnetic field is expected to be quiet on May 13-15. May 16 could see the arrival of the CME observed late on May 12 with the possibility of active to minor storm conditions.

1) Effects from a coronal hole
could reach Earth within the next 5 days. When the high speed
stream has arrived the color changes to green.
2) Effects from a CME are likely to be observed at Earth within 96 hours.
3) There is a possibility of either M or X class flares within the next 48 hours.
Green: 0-30% probability, Yellow: 30-70% probability, Red: 70-100% probability.
